What's a good point and shoot 35 mm camera with a zoom lens? I want a camera with a zoom lens and don't know to much about photography.

What's your budget?

Would you consider a digital camera if the price were right?

Pentax.
I've got an old school (non point and shoot) K-1000 that I've had for 24 years.

Nikon N80

Great for beginners, but also great when you start learning more than point and shoot.

nikons are overrated... go with canon.
they are much better value at any given price range.

But in all seriousness......... I've had good luck with Nikon (401S, N100 & F5), Canon(AE2) , Olympus (stylus) & Minolta (Dimage X digtal camera).

What is your budget?

How about the Canon Sureshot 85? It seems easy enough to use and decently priced ($100 kit at BB has tripod, battery, case, etc).
