I put some Arctec Silver 5, and cover the core using a credit card. Anyway, when I boot up, went to the BIOS screen, and I see it run at 47c. Maybe I put too much paste or something =( I don't know though, I put around a size of a rice, and scrape it to all 4 place. Seeing that the paste is hard to spread too =(

Should I be concern about this? Is 47c is okay? Or should I take the core out sometime and clean it, and reapply the paste using the Arctec Silver webside way. They say that put some paste in the middle, then put the sink in. I follow people's method by using credit card way =(

did you scrape off the stock thermal pad before applying the AS5 ?

alot of it also depends on the ambient temp (room tempertaure where your cpu resides), but there's nothing wrong with those temps... especially with the stock amd hsf.

Hi, yes, I did scrape off the Thermal Pad (which is very thick) on the heatsink. When I apply the AS5 paste into the core, it was so little that I can't spread it out evenly throughout the core. I then see that they put too much Thermal Pad in the Heatsink...so I put like a little more AS5. Then spread it out evenly. Look very thin and good to me.

But when I boot...it's 47c. And no, my room very is cool (cold actually). My case is a Tsunami Dream that have 2x 120mm fan too.

I have the same CPU running on the same motherboard and I used the stock cooler with the stock TIM pad, not AS5 or Ceramique as I normally do. I have the system running in a completely stock Antec Sonata. My CPU temp. is a cool 39C, the case temp. is 35C.

You may have inadvertantly done something wrong when you set up your rig. :(

your cpu can handle up to 75 degrees C, so 47 isnt anything to worry about. if the idle temps were 50+, then that's when i would resort to better cooling.

Hi guys, today I took my HFS and core out and do some cleaning. I then apply the AS5 into the middle of the core just as Arctics website tell me to do. Apply the HFS, move some degree around, and then lock it up. Guess what? Now it run at 44c~46c.

Yesterday I use the way that people use, I apply some AS5 on the core, use a credit card to cover the die. People tell me to put little, but with so little, I can't spread evenly. So I drop in a little more do spread. It run at 47c ~ 48c.

How many degree do you guy usually get when having AS5 + stock HFS? Maybe I'm suck at applying paste, can you guy recommend me some good, but cheap HFS that can get me around 39c or so? BTW, I'm not going to OClock anything. So yea. Thanks

I have the same motherboard. It seems like this motherboard gives out high temperatures. I'm running at like 49c with AS5. Don't sweat it, it should run just fine.

Is that when you idle or on full load? Should I keep the stock HSF, or get a powerful one to get some degree down? Mine is 45c mostly, and I'm afraid that it might damage the core in long term usage. =(

So is it worth it to get a brand new HFS to make the core cooler forsay under 40c? Or should I live with the 45c....? Thanks

what is your room temperature? Unless your room is realy cold right now and will get much hotter during the summer 48-49C is perfectly fine, if you plan on overclocking then a better heatsink would make sense, or if you plan on running the machine for a decade or if you dont like the noise output, otherwise dont worry about the temps.

Hi, currently my room is pretty cold. I have to wear a jacket to keep me warm. Anyway, my case has 2 extra 120mm fan. The CPU get the stock HFS, but it still run at 45c. Should I be worry that it run at 45c all the time? Or should I just get a good HFS to make temperature drop some degree? Is it worth it. No, I'm not going to OC anything in my PC, and I'm going to use this machine for atleast 4-5 more years. Please give me some advice.

hmmmm...is it possible that my computer need to run atleast 100 hours in order to get AS5 paste to reach it maximum? Arctic website said that around 200 hours of use, I can drop 2c-5c. Is it true? I plan to take the HFS/CPU out and clean it again. Reapply, but with even smaller quantity...should I do it? Or wait...?

45C is a perfectly normal idle temp, far from damaging the CPU. Don't worry about it.

Granted, my room is warm, but the only way I can get my CPU idleing under 40C with stock cooling is by turning Cool n Quiet on.

45c is ok,, no worrys.
oh on you heatsink, after you scrap off the thermal pad, did you reclean it with alcohal? and buff it clean. If you rub it with a napkin and the napkin turns black,, you'll need more cleaning.

No, I use use my shirt to clean the HFS and core (I don't have alcohol to clean it). Anyway, I clean them pretty well though. How do I enable Cool N Quiet in the BIOS? Do you recommend to enable it or not?

And 45c is alright right? No need to get a HFS to make it more cooler? Sorry, I'm just paranoid about the temp.

I'm planning to get this:

Thermaltake SILENT BOOST Highest Performance Cooler for AMD AthlonXP up to 3400+

Will it + AS5 will make my CPU 5c-8c lower than my current 45c?

ZALMAN CNPS7000A-AlCu Aluminum + Copper CPU Cooler for AMD XP Socket 462/ 754 and Intel Socket 478 -RETAIL

The AlCu is good right? It's even cooler than the Thermaltake one? I'm going to order a AlCu...however..the thing is too big. Will it even fit into my SL-K8AN2E-GR mobo? Do I need to do some adjustment to make it fit?

if your room is that cold then your temps are a little high, try using a thermalright slk949 or xp 120 with a large but quite fan, if they will fit on your board, temps should drop 5-10C or more

Hi, I'm looking for a HFS that is no more than 35 bucks. So far, those Thermalright stuff are so expensive for a HFS. Anyway, would a AlCu fits into my Soltek SL-K8AN2E-GR mobo? Or should I look for a smaller one?

Should I get the Zalman Alcu version B that cost 35 bucks? Do I have to take out my mobo's own plate and install the Zalman plate in order to make it fits? Or should I get the TT Venus 12? My mobo is the SL-K8AN2E-GR
