This would have been nuclear hot if you changed the Acoustic Guitar to Monitor. :)

Seems like a good deal, though.

Nice find! Wished I had seen this before I dropped over $200 for one for my son to learn on. But it was for Christmas and it was the cheapest I could find at a b&m store in the area. Oh, well...

Another bargain guitar: Rogue 12-string for $100

Comes with a free Dean Markley Pro Mag Plus pickup. Normally the pickup sells for $40-45, so the guitar is essentially ~$60. I doubt the Rogue is that good, but the pickup is decent and a 12-string for $60 is a steal.

If you're serious about getting a keeper, though, I'd recommend getting a Seagull acoustic ($300-400). Handmade in Canada, solid tops, and better than the lower-end Martins which would run you at least $500.

Hmm, the body and tuners look like a classical guitar's. Is the fingerboard width that of an acoustic or classical guitar?

Cool! My brother has been telling me that I need to check out the prices at Musician's Friend. I keep forgetting, so thanks for the reminder. I'm looking at the Epiphone Les Paul Studio for $415.

You're right, it does look like a classical, but the description says it's steel string. No mention on the types of woods used. It might be playable, but I wouldn't be surprised if it sounds like plastic. That's not a crap on this thread, it's just to be expected from a $25 guitar.

Thanks! I've been looking for a cheap guitar to learn with for a while but haven't wanted to sink a lot of money into one since I have a feeling I'll give up on it fairly soon. For $30 shipped just can't pass it up, just ordered one.

But please try to rememeber that this is quite a small guitar...measure 34 inches out and you'll see what I mean. :D

Just so you guys know exactly what you're getting...a guitar's a guitar but this one's on the small side. :)

true, but i was thinking of the beginner for this guitar.
$30 shipped is hard to beat at B&M stores like guitar center.

there are pricier beginning models also on sale like the ones
mentioned and a takamine jasmine for $99 and $150. they both
come with free pickups.

remember, valentines is coming up. learn some tunes fast so
you can get off the internet and find a woman for once! hehe

Great deal for me. I am going to block up the strings and make me a small steel guitar. Put a little pickup on of course.

not exactly sure what you want to know by "standard" guitar size... it's not as tiny as a mandolin, but it will feel smaller than 'most' acoustic(steel string) guitars...

great price for a 'beater/roadtrip' guitar...

thanks, I got one and a little $8.99 tuner since I'm tone deaf. If I don't use it much it will go to my niece. It comes with a free bag today, too.

Unless you can go to the store, hold this thing in your hands, and feel that it plays well and in tune, avoid this deal! :(

Trust me on this. I play keyboards and guitar, and I used to play professionally. A cheap piece of junk usually will not have a decent action or play in tune over the full scale. If, when you play it correctly, the instrument cannot return the musical reward you seek, you will lose interest in it long before you ever find out if you could have mastered the instrument.

If you're serious about wanting to learn to play guitar, make a good investment in a decent instrument. Have a knowledgable freind help you pick out a good used instrument. If you get the right one, and you don't destroy it, it will not lose value. A good instrument not only sounds good, but an experienced player will be able to tell you that, once you learn how to play it, it will play easily and in tune.

As others have mentioned, the photo of this little slot-head guitar is questionable. It looks like a classical (nylon string) guitar. It looks like junk, and at this price, I don't see how it could be anything else. Junk like this is a one way ticket to losing interest in music that you may otherwise have developed. This deal smells like bad news.

The number #1 reason people quit guitar is because they think it's too hard or they think they suck cuz what they are playing sounds bad. But actually a lot of times it's not that it's too hard (guitar is an easy instrument to pick up), but it's because the guitar sounds like crap. THIS guitar will sound like crap, guaranteed. I've been playing guitar for 9 years, and just playing a few strums on a nice guitar is more fun than jamming out on a crappy guitar.

If you plan on learning guitar, then you want a good sounding guitar so when you get those first few chords down, it'll sound great, and you'll want to learn more and it's more fun when your guitar sounds great.

You also have to realize that guitars APPRECIATE, just like violins and other wooden string instruments. As a guitar gets older and you play it more, the wood grains open up and teh guitar sounds a lot better as it ages. You can actually buy a guitar now, play it for a while and sell it (provided it's kept in great condition) for more than you bought it. The most expensive guitars you can buy right now are vintage guitars from the 50's and 60's. This crappy guitar will NOT appreciate since it's probably made out of plywood.

Make a wise investment, this is a bad deal.

Hey Sodbuster I hate to bust your sod, but I meant Eric Johnson! No disrespect for the ol blues master RJ, but he ain't no Eric Johnson. Although Robert Johnson's guitar was probably no better than this 29 dollar special, and he made all that wonderful music with it. It's just he could never approach the technical perfection or incredible tone that is Eric Johnson...

NeoSolo,

I've had good luck with the Korg GA-20 tuner ($15 at Musician's Friend). Boss makes a stomp box version that's pretty convenient, but will cost you 4-5x more.
