333MHz FSB synchronous with DDR333 RAM.. or just get DDR400 for later?

I am soon to be upgrading my desktop pc, and I was planning on getting an Athlon XP 2400+, and 512mb pc3200 RAM. The other day, however, I came across this article. The paragraphs above and below the shot of the monitor make me want to purchase a cpu with a 333MHz fsb, (eg the 2800+) and pc2700(DDR333) ram so that they run in sync with reduced latency.

My problem is that i will be sticking with this upgrade for a long time and would like to have the fastest ram (pc3200/DDR400) just so that what i buy will keep for longer and won't be phased out as fast. I guess i'm asking if it's worth the small speed boost of synchronous bus speeds to stick with DDR333 ram for while longer.. any suggestions?

Even if a module is rated to run at DDR400, it can run at DDR333 speed. You'd just have to make the appropriate adjustments in the BIOS - not difficult.

Ah cool, the article's wording sort of lead me to believe you couldn't heh.

How exactly do you adjust it? I don't know much about that. :\

Depends on the motherboard. For example, with the Abit NF7-S motherboard, you can specify the "CPU FSB/DRAM ratio" as a 1 to 1 ratio. That is, FSB and DRAM Frequency in sync.
