can anyone tell me if it would be feasible to run Corsair 400 MHz RAM with an intel 875 based board and a p4 3.06 CPU, which supports only up to 333 MHz ram ?

i know the mobo is fully compatibel with both and i wouldnt have any problems from taht angle, but i already have a CPU tahts a P4 3.06 that can run up to 333 MHz ram. if i get the 400 MHz ram, will it be backward compatible with the CPU, will it "underclock" itself ?

probobly be using this mobo http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=434&MODEL=MS-6758

i'm thinking about doing this so way down the line it will be easier to overclock the system.

thanks

that's exactly why i buy faster memory than i need.. for further down the road.

to answer your one question, it won't underclock itself, just leave more headroom for overclocking.. plus, usually the p4 boards have a 4:3 setting for memory, so even though your CPU runs at 100 lets say, the memory can run at 133.
