333 or 400 DDR for NF2 Ultra 400 & 333MHz FSB

If I buy a motherboard with a NForce2 Ultra 400 chipset, and a Barton 2500+ with 333MHz FSB, should I get memory that's 333MHz DDR (clock is sync with FSB) or 400MHz DDR (clock is faster, but now async with FSB and possibly paying an extra buffer penalty)?

Which gives better performance?

Pretty sure 400 async would still be faster but not much. You can always get the 400 and overclock the 2500+ to a 3200+
