330w PS Good Enough for P4 2.0A?

Enermax PSU's are very high quality so I'm inclined to say yes it would work, but it would certainly be preferential to upgrade to a 400W PSU with that kinda system... still it should probably be okay with the 330W Enermax.

I'm presuming the HDD's are just going to be mainstream 7200RPM IDE... my opinion my change quite a bit if their high end SCSI drives. It also depends on what 4 cards your using, as without knowing what they are I can do little but make a very wild guess on what their power requirements might be.

HDs are both Maxtor 7200rpm drives (40.0 and 27.2GB)
4 cards (now 3): ATi Radeon 7500, SB Audigy Mp3+, and Linksys LNE100TX NIC

Here's the entire system:

Enermax FS-710 case (similar to Antec SX1040) with Enermax EG351P-VE 330w PS
ASUS P4B266 with USB2.0
Intel P4 2.0A
Crucial 512MB PC2100 DDR (1 Dimm)
Maxtor DX740 40.0GB 7200rpm
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 27.2GB 7200rpm*
Toshiba SD-M1612 16x DVD-ROM
Sony 1.44" Floppy
Plextor 16/10/40A CD-RW*
ATi Radeon 7500 64MB DDR
SoundBlaster Audigy Mp3+
Linksys LNE100TX NIC
MS IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0

All items are retail with the exception of the Maxtor DX740 harddrive. Cost, with shipping, is around $1350.

I've got the 431W running my 2.2 with 4HD's and 3 ROM drives + an LS120, GF3 Ti500, Santa Cruz, and a 3Comm NIC all on a TH7II-RAID................

LOL! I've got no problems thus far with mine, so I doubt you would, but, having said that, IF it was me.......I'd go for the 465 (431W) just to be safe.........😉

Well, damnit! Newegg sold out of the Antec SX1040 with 400w PS a few hours ago! And I'm ready to order now! I thought these new Northwood CPUs required less juice!

They do.............I'm just one whom always opts for "more power"..............😉 LOL!🙂 Try Googlegear???? Been using them a bit lately and their prices and shipping times have improved greatly!🙂

<< BAH! I'm already buying from enough places: Newegg, Mwave, and Crucial. >>

Hey........you gotta' spread it around right!😉 Mwave is out too????

LOL! Not me! Got a couple 1900+ running in two systems and to be honest.........I really like these Northwoods! It had been a while since Intel anything, plus I was in an accident this past weekend so I had a friend put this together under my close supervision and I couldn't believe it! First run, Win XP loads and everything is there and running perfect! Loaded some new Dets. for the Ti500 and away we went!

Breaking in @ default, but this thing sure feels fast..........😉

<< Mwave doesn't carry Antec? POS Newegg can't keep Antec products in stock for more than a day. >>

In that case, I'd stick it together with the 330 and see what happens! You can always change shortly thereafter. In the mean time, put the P/S on email alert at NewEgg!😉

Are your 1900+ systems duals?

I would definitely take a Northwood over a single Athlong anything, but dual XP's is a damn quick setup for not much cash. Stable as hell, too.

Na........they're singles.......played with duals, and to be honest, I wasn't that impressed.......guess they just weren't for me. "Make no mistake" LOL!😉 I love my Athlons, but, this is the first Intel I've liked much at all since the 700E's!🙂

DAMN IT! DAMN IT! DAMN IT! I just don't see how 100w is SO damned important! I run pretty much the same stuff (with more cards) now on a 200w PS! And the CPU is a 1998 .25mu PII-450!!!

DAMN Newegg for running out of the Antec SX1040 just a few hours ago.

*GTa <-- Pulling his hair out!

Your 330w should be more then enough. These are the spec's of my brother's P4 system:

1.7GHz P4
Asus P4T
512MB of RDRAM
100GB HD
DVD
CDRW
GF3
NIC
WinTV Go
SB Live

All of thats is powered by a 250w Powerman p/s(with a $2 12v P4 adapter from Fry's)that came with a old Inwin S500 case we had lying around. I couldn't dig up any spec's on that power supply but I can tell you his comp is 100% stable so your 330w should work fine. You may need to 12v P4 adapter like the one pictured here if the P4B266 doesn't have Asus' EZ-Plug(which I think it does).

Too late. I purchased the Enermax 431w PS, just "to be safe" as many suggested. Oh well. At least I'll have some headroom in that department.
