Just an interesting find at my local Staples. A Sempron 3300+ with the AMD64 extensions (it is actually called the AMD64 3300+!) with 256K L2 cache is on the shelf. It is a complete HP system. The processor is at 2.4ghrtz.

So much for the monopoly suit. I mean, if Staples carries AMD, then Intel has a valid argument against AMD. ;)

Wait, 256 l2 cache? I thought the 3300+ was 128. 2.4 Ghz? Is this information correct?

I will check again when I go back later in the week to check. The only thing I can think of is HP tried to get tricky and combined the L1 and L2 cache together to give the marketing speak of 256 total cache. I didn't look too closely.

Ahhhh....this has been posted so many times.

It is not a Sempron!
It is an s754 A64 Paris core @ 2.4 GHz with 256MB L2 cache.
HP often gets OEM-only CPUs like that 3300+.

If you don't believe me, do a search.

That being said though, i was curious myself when we got that model in at work, so i personally can attest to everything i just said, since i checked it out.

n7 is correct..

There aren't too many of the Paris cores flying around though..
