Just got a Dell Inspiron 8600 and was wondering which memory I should buy for it? I'm looking at upgrading it to 768Mb by adding an additional 512Mb DIMM, but wasn't sure which chip I should get? I've seen both 32x8 and 64x64 chips for sale and know one is high density and one isn't... from what I remember (I've been out of the memory market for a while) high density chips have a lower compatibility rate than standard chips, right?

Which should I get assuming they are the same price?

64x64 means the module is 512MB.

32x8 means the each chip on the module is 32x8Mbit = 32MB.
In this number, ??x8 is the common type.
The so-called high density type in PC133 age is ??x4.

There are 2 numbers to form the complete information of the module and the chips it uses.
Some resellers only list the module organization number, some only list the chip organization number.

64x64 plus 32x8 means this is a 512MB module using 32MB chips, so total 16 chips, should be double side, each side has 8 chips.
