I'm wondering if I should buy a 32GB SSD for my laptop. So far the best one I've found runs $500 (external drive). It also has a touch screen, wifi, and can be used to play mp3s, videos, games, browse the web, etc. without any OS support required. Is it worth the $500? Cheapest 32gb SSD on Newegg is $419 without the screen, wifi, media support etc.

I've seen prices 1/2 that for SSD... I cant remember where though. I'd personally wait for SSD to come down in price... Give it like a year or two.

You should use like 500 MB of your ram and make it a ram drive then install windows onto that. I have to take some features out of windows but its possible to make windows 250 MB and even as small as 30 to 50 MB.

but then you'd only have like 3.5 GB. thats not enough to run VISTA - you need 4 GB!!

since we "know" vista needs 4 gb, what do you use the other 4 for? what do you do on your PC besides post nonsense on forums?

Is that possible? Links?

If I have 2gb of memory and install XP on say 500mb of it, would that be a practical solution?
