Newegg dropped the price of 8GB DDR Sticks to $240 for 4x8GB:-

Memory

The cheapest I've seen so far and knowing my luck it will probably drop further in the next few weeks.

For gaming there is probably not much incentive to 32GB but it is helpful for the software development (involving large data sets) that I do.

Nice, I thought about going to 24gigs but I've only recently moved to 12gigs and I'm not sure what to use it all for yet :)

I got 4gb sticks in all my DDR3 machines except my laptop which takes DDR2. When/if they get a bit cheaper, i'll start going to 8gb sticks.

If you have extra ram and windows 7 then the OS will typically find a good use for it.

Wow, good deal. Look at the 2x8GB DDR3-1333, only $100! Ripjaws X 1333 2x2GB is $25, so 2x8GB is same price per gig, for the larger sticks! That's very impressive. I think that my next desktop rig is going to sport 32GB of RAM. RAMDISK, here we come!

I wonder if 16gb limited mobo will be able to take 8gb modules. Prolly not.

I've wondered that about motherboards that specify 8GB maximum (2 slots), is that an actual maximum, or is that because when it was manufactured, 8GB DIMMs were $200+, and they wouldn't exactly count on people spending $200+ on ram to go in a $50 motherboard?

Don't tell me that, I'll have to go shopping for them when I just got all my 4gb modules in!!

Well... it depends.

I had one Intel board that according to its datasheet was limited to 8 gigs of ram. And guess what, it was :D

Best way IMHO, is to ask your m/b support, they normally are competitive with silly questions like that :D

From a reliability / power point of view. I tend to populate only 2 slots.
