I just bought my ~8 year old kids a couple of Polaroid "cameras" because they both had these on their wish lists. I couldn't resist when I was in Big Lots:
Polaroid PMP287C-4. It has a touch screen, digital camera/camcorder, plays MP3 music and videos, and has internal rechargeable Lithium battery. What I REALLY didn't expect at this price was the fact that it is expandable - accepts up to a 32 GB micro SD card.
Since they were new and going for just $18, I picked a couple up.
I usually use Handbrake to compress video (h.264), but this player can't handle these, even when converted to 320x240. I WAS able to find a converter program on the website that is listed in the manual (southerntelecom.com), but it appears to be useless to me, because it does not seem to be able to convert from h.264 video - which is all of my videos. The only use I got from that was the fact that the software clearly states that the player needs
320x240 video, 30 frames per second, and can play avi, wmv and rmvb files.
So, can anyone recommend some very easy to use software that can convert files easily to what I need?
I would also love it if somebody could point me to some small reference files that I could download and test, just to make sure this thing CAN actually play video files of some kind properly. (the manual sucks, and is not much help - I have also been unable to find out what hardware is actually inside of these things)
They will just love if it I can put a few cartoons on these things before they wake up early in the morning and find them under the Christmas tree. Thanks so much!
