320GB -> 500GB ghosting, system doesn't boot properly

I used Clonezilla to copy everything from my old HD (320GB) to my new one (500GB) hoping to just clone everything and boot off of the new one. The entire process went fine, as far as I can tell. I tried to boot off of the new drive when it was all said and done, an everything was going well...until WinXP was about to finish booting. I got an error (I'm not at the computer right now, and I can't remember the exact wording) and the system stopped responding. I couldn't shut down or anything.

Is there any special process to get this sort of ghost/clone to work the way I want it to? Is it possible to clone a primary drive like mine and have it boot just like it was the old drive? Or am I better off just wiping the new drive and installing XP from scratch?

If they both used the same controller and you physically replaced the 320 with the 500 it should've worked fine.

That's what I thought. Maybe I'll wipe the drive and just try a different program...
