Right now I'm looking at getting the 3400+ 754. I currently have a 2500+@3200+ and im now starting to get stability issues upp the yin yang.

LMK if the A64 is woth the upgrade or not. I have been trying to find reviews that compair each of these CPUs, but I have had no luck.

A^4 is worthy of any xp upgrade. you could take a 2800+A64 and it would beat a 3200+xp. as for 754or 939, id go 939 for overclocking and pci-e capability or 754 for non overclock agp only if you dont need those features.

i went to an a64 3000 s754 from a barton at 2.2

seen a huge performance increase, went from 55,000 aquamark to 62,000 and used same video card, ram and drives, just new cpu/mobo..

on a 3400 s754 now and it's even better

Personally, I'd buy an Athlon XP-M (mobile) 35 Watt from over at New Egg. They can be had for about $80 (doesn't matter which one you buy, they all OC about the same). You should be able to get somewhere between 2400-2500MHz out of it... more if you are lucky. The reason I'd do this is that you can simply drop it in as a replacement for your current CPU, it will perform better and will be cooler. You don't have to get a new MOBO or reinstall your OS and your software.

It WON'T have the overall performance of the AMD-64 chips, but you will have only paid about $80 and will get more performance and less hassle. By the time you "need" to upgrade, you'll probably be able to get an nForce 4/5 and a nice CPU for a lot less $$$$ than they currently go for. (BTW, I know there ins't an nForce5, but I'm future looking!)
