Just like to say Hi Everyone ! This is my first post, been reading here a while though.

On topic - My 3200 Winchester can do 2.4Ghz with no extra voltage but it doesnt want to do 2.5 -2.6 without erroring in Prime95.

I can get into windows at 2.7Ghz.

Max HHT i can hit is 315mhz.

My RAM is generic so ive been using a 133 or 166 divider ( i have kingston value to use 2 if i need to)

CPU date is September 17th 2004

LTD is at x3

2T is disabled

Ive tried using a lowering the multi and using a higher HTT n low mem divider with lots of CPU voltage but Prime95 just keeps getting errors at 2.6Ghz.

If anyone here could be of some help it would be highly appreciated as ive put alot of time and effort into hitting 2.6ghz but with no luck.

at the moment at 2.45ghz (245 x10, 1.55V) my max temp under load is 49c - 51c

btw, RAM is doing 204mhz (3,3,3,8)

bump

Im in windows at

2.6Ghz

1.525V

LTD x4

HTT 260mhz x 10

166 divider

temps are 39c idle

My generic ram is doing 216mhz 3,4,4,8 (was 3,3,3,8 by SPD). Still Slightly unstable, what can i do to get a little more stable ?

EDIT - ive been trying with LTDx3 n i couldnt do it, this is with LTDx4 and it seems alot more stable, anyone know why this is ?

good luck with 2.6. most winchesters can't do that.

Try putting your ram all the way down to a 2:1 divider (100mhz). That should take your ram out of the question for OCing, so you can see if your proc is capable.

What are you talking about? Mine does 2.7GHz on air, and maybe mine is just "special", but I know there are many Winnies that can get to 2.6GHz (or at least very close). I have heard, however, that the newer Winnies aren't as good as the earlier ones, but I don't know for sure, as mine is, I guess, an "earlier" one ;) .

Anyway, good luck with your venture, as with a little tweakage, I'm sure you could get to 2.6GHz :D .

I would try spd for ram timings. Generic ram isn't the best for stability. You can also bump up the ram voltage to 2.6 or 2.7. Some ram will run well with increased voltage, and some brands will be less stable.

Ive tried with the kingston in but it wont overclock at all with it in.... even if i lower the divider.
Ive tried everything i can, i dont think my chip will ever be stable at 2.6ghz.

Ive noticed people with the same chip as me (sept 17th 2004) have hit 2.6ghz, im not giving up on this, i know it can be done.
Theres something im missing, it isnt voltage as ive tried the max, maybe the LTD ? tried x5, x4, x3......

Maybe its the RAM timings they are 3,3,3,8 by SPD, ive been trying 3,4,4,8.
Maybe i should be using the HTT voltage ?

I really would like some feedback on this, its driving me crazy lol !

Your cpu either reached its limit or its getting too hot. If you want to go higher get better cooling.

i can wack it on 1.7V n its still 49c under load so i dont think heat is a problem.

Just prime95'd it n it got an error 24mins into it.... at 2.4ghz 1.4V :(

ur lucky, my computer needs 1.5250 if I need it stable at 2.4GHz. I'm playing with voltages right now to try to get it at 2.5GHz, and its asking for 1.6+ vcore. I don't plan on giving it more than 1.65vcore.

Your processor hit the wall theres nothing you can do about it. You should be happy with it because other people are doing alot worse.

Yikes I just noticed this 1.7v is pushing it. Wouldn't recommend doing that unless you want to fry your memory controller.

TRY these Settings, FSB 316, Multi 8, Ram 2.7volts, 2/3 ram multi, 3X FDT, cpu voltage 1.568votls, CHECK UR VOLTAGES WITH CPUZ, DON"T READ IT OFF THE MOTHERBOARD. IF U STILL TRYING TO USE ANYTHING ABOVE 1.575 VOLTS, beware, "DAMAGE ur GATES. Winnies are only suppose to be above 1.55 a little bit, 1.7 will kill for sure, FOR SURE.

I hate to say this, but perhaps you should ignore whether or not Prime fails if everything else works and the temeperature is ok?
