3200+ vs 3500+

I'm in the planning stage for a new computer and I was wondering if the performance of the Athlon 64 WINCHESTER 3500+ 2.2GHz is that much greater than the WINCHESTER 3200+ 1.8GHz that it is worth $50

Newegg is selling the 3500+ @ $295

They're selling hte 3200+ @ $245

Some will argue that you can OC the 3200+ to the same speed as the 3500+ I just built a new system and went with the 3500+. for 2 main reasons, stock speed is unquestionablly faster. Second when i do feel that I need to OC it will run cooler, and require less voltage. There is always the bragging rights but unless you go with a FX55 or 4000+ I don't feel anyone has much of that. Is that price Retail? 2 weeks ago i purchased retail Win 3500+ $282.00 from Zipzoomfly.

I second going with the 3500+ but it appears prices are rising. My 3500+ was $282 and I think the 3200+ at the time was $188 just a few weeks ago

Nah - stick with the 3200+. Shove some Samsung TCCD RAM in with it and stick the HTT up to 215/220 - put the money you save over the 3500+ towards a 6800GT - its the exact same as the machine i have on order...will go like STINK.

Wow glad I bought on when I did. ZZF Win 3200 retail 206.00 with free shipping the Win 3500 retail at 335.00 I would say eather wait for after Christmas for the price to drop or if you have to have it go 3200+

I'm having this same problem. I can't decide between a 3200+ with Thermalright XP90 and the Panaflo H1a fan or the retail 3500+. It's driving me insane.

If you have value ram then which is better the 3200+ or the 3500+ if you want to oc'd ?? ie. Cosiar Value, Pqi Power, or Mushkin

probably the 3500+ due to the higher multiplier. however money saved on getting a 3200+ can go to some great ram. Get some nice patriot pc3200 ram. uses samsung tccd memory. great overclocker.

I am going from a Athlon XP 2400+ to a A64 3200+ or 3500+. Is there a noticeable difference between 3200+ and 3500+ or considering my current processor, will they both feel extremely fast? Shopping at Monarch, I would save about $100 if I went with 3200+. Is the difference between the two cpus worth $100?

this is how a think.. CPU prices are liek yo-yo right? and the mobos are always same price range from 100-150..

if u plan to upgrade ur mobo, get faster CPU(3500)
if u plan to upgrade ur CPU in future (3000)

I almost bought a 3000 oem off newegg for 155 this morning but decided to wait to find a good retail price. I don't feel like buy an expensive HSF for a proc thats cool enough already imho.

Hm, what about getting the retail 3500+ right now, then just upgrading the HSF in a month or two? How difficult is the process of replacing the retail hsf with a new one? Just unclipping, then reapplying thermal paste, no?
