3200 ram with 2700 ram question...

If I have a system prebuilt that uses 3200 ram, and I put another 512 sick of pc2700 both sticks should run at the pc2700 speeds, or 333mhz right? Are there any possibilities of conflicts between these sticks of ram, that would cause the entire system to slow down a lot? What type of problems can occur if any?

your correct taht it'll run at pc2700 speeds. your overall memory performance will prbably decrease about 4-5% (from what i was told).

The effect on system speed depends on what platform it is. A Pentium 4 will suffer a much bigger slowdown than an Athlon XP or 64.
