That cant be right on a PII 458 MHz, 196M RAM. I've used Radeon Tweaker and gone thru all the options and set them to the recommended. I've got it running at 180 MHz. V-sync is disabled (but monitor refresh is 85 MHz). HyperZ was enabled by using a registry tweak. I'm using the latest drivers released a few days ago.

Any ideas? What am I missing, because this is slower than the Voodoo2 I just took out!

It's probably slower cause Quake 2 was optimized for the Voodoo 2 and not the Raedon. My Voodoo 5, which is a hell of a lot faster than my Voodoo 2, runs slower in Quake 2.

Darknight, nah, my TNT2 could pull well over 30 FPS easily in Quake2 when it was on a P2-400. Quake2 is an old game now and it did have a few optimisations for the Voodoo, but it should still be able to go higher using OpenGL (I assume you have put it in OpenGL mode and not standard software rendering).

Quake 2 was optimised for OpenGL
and back then Voodoo's were the best for Quake 2 coz they had full support for OpenGL and that they were one of the best card back then.
everything I have said I saw in a article a few weeks ago online sorry that I can't support the link :|

Their is this problem I know of
the Voodoo 2 is still in your Reg
Backup your savegame files and reinstall Quake 2
this worked for me in Diablo 2 when installing a Geforce

Yeah, and dont forget to grab the patches, 3.20 is/was the latest version (I doubt it has been improved upon since I stopped playing it a year ago).

What resolution are you running at?

At 800 by 600 I was getting about 65 fps on my TNT2 stock. With my GTS @ 1024 I'm getting well past 120.

You should be getting A LOT more than that. Mke sure there are no 3dfx opengl files hanging around. Delete your config.cfg file. Start the game and it will generate a new one. Be sure to use defaulty opengl, not 3dfx.
