Should I spend an extra $15 on a 32 bit notebook network card instead of 16 bit? Speedwise, they say it's faster, but I think that's just more hype than anything. The 16 bit card looks like an older model so it probably consumes more power than the 32. Any comments on real world performance of the two cards? A little more money for the newest, or save some money and go for something a little older?

You must be sure either your slot supports either 16 or 32bit. If you have a newer Laptop then a 32Bit will only work. (I'm pretty sure a 16 won't work). And older laptops will not work with 32Bit cards, only 16bit.

A PCCard is a 32-bit card....a PCMCIA Card is 16-bit and has a higher voltage requirement than PCCards...

Functionally, they are the same and in most cases will not affect speed for network cards.

A PC Card slot will accept both PC Cards and PCMCIA cards, but a PCMCIA slot will not accept PC Cards.
