So.. now that i got the 311-1000 mini with 2 gb of ram, etc.. I'm scared to brick it. I played around with OCTuner a bit and can run it at 1.9 ghz (its an atom 270 chip), and no problems whatsoever, but I'm just scared a bit to break it.

Still.... must have more power.. decisions decisions..

The bios overclocking is nerve racking, as there is no CMOS to take you back. I just had to go further, so I pushed it.

I will say this (this is all my personal experience)

-with a 1333 MHZ 2 GB expansion stick in, I went to the max of what the overclock bios allows for memory (1275 mhz). But I think the risk factor is "how good in that internal 1GB stick?" For me it was fine.

-My 1.2v Atom N270 got up to 2.4GHZ without bricking. Mine is higher voltage then many apparently, so be sure to check in CPU-Z.

-But with that said I currently run at 2.2 GHZ with a 3:2 memory ratio (so somewhere around 1100-1200 MHZ).

Why am I running at lower than max? Well because the 200 mhz difference equaled: another 100 mhz the speedstep's minimum went to, the CPU got about 4 degrees Celsius hotter than at 2.2 GHZ, and because at 2.1ish is the magic line where our Atoms start to compete with single core CULV notebooks (with better graphics than most). So I am happy.

I would say read the ENTIRE thread on overclocking via bios:

Then see how far you can push it with OCTuner. Once you hit and OCTuner max (I don't think OCTuner can brick it like the bios does as long as you are reasonable). then put those settings in the bios and you are set!
