Ok... I am about to pull the trigegr on a Gateway DL31-1.


What would 800X600 look like at 31"? Would this be crap?

why would you do 800X600 on a 31? Wouldn't the pixel sizes be huge?
 
here's a test, plug in the tcv out of a comupter, via svideo to a tv, preferasbly 32", but any will work fine, obviously for less, you should sit closer to simulate ythe view and for larger, you should sit further away. set the resolution to 800x600. notice how everything looks like crap? yeah...

Yes, it would be ugly. Surfing the web would be horrible since the resolution is so small.

Games would be aliased to hell too, you'd need 6x AA at least.
 
hmm....$75....think you can sell it for more on ebay? it is 31" afterall, i'd bet many would ebayers wouldn't even kno/care about resolutions, they'll just pay for the cash because it's 31"
 
Depends on how far away you are from it.

Yeah, web surfing will be really irritating on it.

Games and movies would look just fine.

I sometimes play games at 854x480 on a 76" screen sitting 10 feet away and it looks quite good.
 
I saw it going for as little as $40 and as high as $199 on Ebay. I'm not sure even at $120 profit if it is worth the pain in the ass it would be to ship it. Plus, you just know it's gonna break during shipping.
 
Jesus just the thought of 31 inches refreshing 75 times a second makes my head throb.

CRTs larger than 19 inches should be illegal.

Come to think of it, CRTs period should probably be illegal.
