"$5,000 will not even buy a decent chair?" Da fuq? There is so much I don't understand about this story:

1. Who the hell needs a dining room set in their office? Are you hosting dinner parties during work hours? Is he personally feeding the homeless and poor who need HUD? I can understand an expensive leather couch, lounge chair, fancy tea service or hell even a bar cart. But a dining room set?

2. My dream office chair is a Herman Miller Eames Executive Soft Pad, and that'll run about $3K. I can get a decent Aeron chair for $1K. I can't imagine spending more than $5,000 on a chair.

3. Why does Candy Carson have any say in purchasing decisions by HUD? Does she work in procurement, purchasing or accounts payable? I think not. I don't understand how she had any say in this.

Republicans have the mistaken idea that when they take office the government are supposed to serve THEM.

Nobody in this administration cares about morals, ethics or what the law says. Call it a Trump family tradition.

I call it an honest representation of what America has become, because "profit for me only matters" is the governing philosophy today, everything else like morals, ethics or what the law says just gets in the way.

The sad part is that our government as designed by our founding fathers assumes that we would all be honest Christians. See how that's working out lately.

Good thing the Trump administration is cutting so much government waste and making things more fiscally responsible.

They’re even getting Kellyanne to help with the opioid crisis, saving hiring someone who has real experience and would add an extra salary. Look at the savings!

Good luck finding an actual Christian much less an honest one.

He should have bought used. Seems used furniture, esp. high end stuff, rarely holds its value for long.

For instance, bought a set of three tables by Hekman at an estate auction. Coffee table, 2 side tables seen here (using Houzz as an example....prices are representative):

The tables are gorgeous and were in beautiful, perfect condition. Elderly, not exactly poor, couple died within weeks of one another. Family wanted nothing of theirs, so all auctioned off.

We bought the three above linked tables for a combined $125.

So basically HUD lied and this was specifically selected by Carson. Sounds about right.

Drain that swamp though...

HUD spokesman Raffi Williams initially denied the Carsons had any involvement in the dining set selection.
"Mrs. Carson and the secretary had no awareness that the table was being purchased," he told CNN last month.

An August email from a career administration staffer, with the subject line "Secretary's dining room set needed," to Carson's assistant refers to "printouts of the furniture the Secretary and Mrs. Carson picked out."
