Question 3060ti/4060ti/6750XT

Hi all,I'm in need of new gpu for 1440p gaming. My pc is 13600k with 32gb ram ddr5 on z690 chipset. I'm buying in europe so any of the 3 cards here costs around 400€. I had 2080 before and now since all this fsr,dlss,frame generation etc... I'm confused which one to buy. Since I don't have budget for 4070ti or 7x series from amd,I need gpu for 1-1,5 year before I will have money for up tier card. Which of these 3 cards is better choise for ONLY gaming in 1440p?

To clarify,I don't have ANY gpu at the moment

6750 XT easily. If you can find a 6700 XT for a better price, consider that. They both have the same 12GB of VRAM that the 4070 and 4070 Ti have. It won't be as fast as those, but it will certainly beat the 3060 Ti and be close to the 4060 Ti with more VRAM. You should check prices on the 6800 XT as well.
 
The 4060 Ti is stupidly priced. If you get a good deal (sale, coupon) then the RX 6750 XT is a much better choice. If you go up to ~$600 US, you can get an RX 6950 XT or an RTX 4070, the former has more RAM, and is a bit faster on average. Good luck!
 
You can see the reviews - the 4060Ti is not great value, but if it costs the same as a 5750xt it's still better value then that. Better features, higher performance, lower power, etc. All the 5750xt has is more memory, but that advantage is already baked into the performance tests.

Truth is there aren't really any good value cards these days unfortunately. Personally I'd just save for another month and get a 4070 which is a better deal for the money then all the card's you've listed.
 
Of the 3 choices you mentioned, I would go with the 6750XT. At that price though, it seems a bit overpriced, but still a better deal than the others. For reference, the 6750XT is actually slightly faster than a 6800 in some games. It is between 3070 and 3070Ti generally, but with more memory.

Since the 6750XT largely makes the 6800 obsolete, the next thing to consider would be if you can get a 6800XT for a decent price, as mentioned.

OK, found one to compare.

There is something seriously wrong with the TPUP reviews on this. I think they keep old data in their charts, when they update with drivers/patches/platform. I trust HWUB more than TPUP on making sure everything is tested the same.

Example:

6750 is just a mild clock speed boost on 6700 XT.

So how does TPUP get a ~28% 6750 gain on this game??? HWUB OTOH gets a much more reasonable 4%..

Whatever originally held back TPUP 6700XT results, is similarly holding back their 6800 XT results, while the newer 6750 XT results are almost certainly boosted by patch/driver/platform changes:

TBF, I did say it depends on the game. Also I play at 1440p, so I usually pay more attention to those numbers, if that makes a difference, I am not sure.

Which game? Which review? There is really no reason that 6750 should be better than 6800. TPUP results are clearly something wrong TPUPs data.


It's not like they are different generations, or different companies. They are both RDNA 2 GPUs and run the same drivers so games should react to both the same, but the 6800 has 50% more CUs, and a wider bus with more memory bandwidth, and more VRAM.
 
Hmm that is certainly possible, that it was a problem with their testing. I don't remember what graph I was looking at, but it might have been one of the GPU hierarchy type charts from either Tom's Hardware or Tech Powerup or something.
 
I usually run my GPUs stock for a while, make sure they are stable as is in various games. Once you know it works fine out of the box, then you can try tweaking. I think you should be able to OC a bit, as well as give an undervolt, but I am not certain, I have not used an RDNA2 card. With the 6700XT, it shouldn't be too hard to OC it to 6750XT levels, at least I suspect. Anyway YMMV depending on the card.

I own the 6800XT, but the recommendation should be about the same. If you want to lower power consumption with minimal impact on performance, you can lower max clocks by ~100Mhz. If you're willing to undervolt, the most common options are between 50-100mV. After that it depends a lot on the quality of your chip.

I suggest you start with a 100Mhz underclock, but keep voltage stock. After a while spent playing your favorite games, introduce a 50mV undervolt. Stay with this for days or weeks, and if everything is stable just as before, maybe try 75mV or 100mV. Beyond that I don't think it's worth the trouble unless you really enjoy tinkering. A 50-75mV undervolt accomplishes the goal anyway.

Just wanted to learn in depth,what will give me 100mhz underclock and 50mv undervolt? Better temps and noise with about 5% fps loss ?

Yes, that the goal: better temps and noise in exchange for less than 5% performance penalty.

In my case for example, the TUF 6800XT has very adequate cooling but this underclock/undervolt brings fans that much lower. It's not required though, the card works just fine with default settings.

I haven’t bothered yet with my 4070ti - runs really cool and quiet with the custom fans curve I use. And this is in the summer with indoor temps of 26-28 C. I do undervolt my CPU - part of that was because my HS Fans were running slower than they should, so I needed to knock down the temps.

For me it's ABSOLUTELY required!

The fans on my Gigabyte AORUS RX 6800 run scary loud without undervolting. With the undervolt, they just hum along, like how fans used to be. Even the XFX RX 580 I had didn't scare me enough with its fan noise. There's just something unsettling about fans running at max speed where the noise makes you think something will fail.
