300Mhz core clock on a 6600GT?

I thought the non- OC'd 6600GT's core clock was stock at 500Mhz? After setting up coolbits last night on my MSI 6600GT, the core clock was set at 300Mhz, and memory at 1Ghz with no overclocking.. Only after I checked the "automatic overclocking" option, did the the core clock jump to 500Mhz, and the memory stayed at 1Ghz.. what's up with that? is that normal?

Perfectly normal, and I can tell you that from experience, my old GeForce 5700u did the same thing, nVidia has things setup into 2 profiles, 2D, and 3D, when youre in windows, the core is clocked down to save energy, and produce less heat, when you're gaming, it clocks up to the listed core speed. No worries :)
