3000+ Venus Overclock

Hi, I just get my gf a new computer, it includes a A64 3000+ (Venice), 2x512MB Corsair Value, DFI Lanparty nF4 ultra, and she's using my Zalman 7700cu.

I have heard that Venice Core o/c fairly well, so far I had been ok @ 2.0GHz @ default voltage, however, I couldn't go higher than that. I had tried it with 1.5v but it would halt and give me a blue screen right after WinXP started.

Am I doing something wrong?

I had been using the divider to keep the memory under 200MHz at all times.

Now I can't help but try to imagine what a Jupiter over-clock could reach !

We never know with those gas giants, they need one heck of a cooling system, very expensive.

If you are running Value you ram, I assume PC3200, 200mhz is your limit..

Stock is

9 x 200 (LDT multiplier @ 5x)

You want to keep the total number LDT X (HTT speed ) below 1000mhz.. You can go as low as 400 and not lose much performance at all.

In your BIIOS you should have a memory divider as well.. You memory is only rated for 200mhz, so once you push past 2ghz..You already way out of spec ( about 225 mhz..)

Put that divider in place and start bumping up the speeds.. Put your LDT multiplier @ 3 and go from there.

I have lowered HTT x 5 to HTT x 3, but it's still giving me the same error.
It seems that I could easily get into memtest86+ with stock 1.4v even at speed like 2340MHz, but I am unable to load into Windows, it just halt and stop right at the welcome screen (no blue screen though).

have you tried using a divider to take your ram out of the equation?

check out zebo's sticky...
and also, it's a venice.. not a venus 🙂 hehehe

bump Vcore up to 1.45 or even 1.5 and go from there..

Give your memory 2.7 or 2.8 reguardless.
