3000+ text messages in 1 month?

Holy crap, just got the cell phone bill, somehow, my oldest daughter sent >3K text messages in 1 month???

Any of you all use the AOL text messaging on a phone? Do all of your IM's on the new show up on the phone too?

(I just coughed up for the unlimited text messaging on her account, up from the 1K limit...)

The AIM messages to cell phones do count I believe. A lot of people end up with really high message counts from this.

I thought it only counted if both the phone and computer were logged in at the same time - messages sent from the computer would show up on the phone bill if the phone was logged in.

I always wondred how people could use that many text messages in one month. Now I realize that it is really easy and sometimes it's more convenient than just calling people. You can just text message everyone on your phone if you wanted to.

A friend of mine took his phone to college and apparently he was 'roaming' for three months. The cell phone bill was somewhere around ~$600 or so...

Yeah, he lost his cell after that.

Edit: OMG 3000x $0.10?! :Q

Someone's gonna be pwned tonight...

I work for T-Mobile. AIM has been getting quite a few customers who are unaware that each message is a text message. Try to call T-Mobile and talk to them that you guys were unaware of the charges that would result. They MAY give you a slight break this time. I'm sure your daughter didn't know either...and I'm sure she feels bad as it is 🙁

If you are getting AIM forwarded to your phone via SMS, each message counts as an SMS text message. If you have an AIM client built-in to your phone, it is charged as your internet access is charged.

If you had a Sidekick this would be no concern at all 🙂
