$3000 PC going bad ASUS Sabertooth X58 can't detect SATA 3 SSD

hi guys i just bought a 500$ ssd hdd (ocz deneva 2)

the hard drive is a sata 3 that can read @ 550m/b write at 525/mb

i plug in my sata2 cable to the sata 3 port which is a white (gray port) (result = cant't recognize)

i put in windows 7 and it does not find the ssd drive
however i put my ssd in a sata2 port it recognize but the speed i got was only 244m/b (read) write 199mb(write) using as ssd benchmark

and yes i did went to the bios i enable ACHI and turn off the ide but yea it still cant detect the hard drive when its in the sata 3 port...

i also download the lastest driver from marvell put it in a usb and boot from windows 7 cd and install the driver in the windows 7 screen however after install the driver from marvell it still does not pick up the ssd



now my question is do i need a sata 3 cable cord? thats the only way i can think of it thats not detecting...

and yes i just have 1 ssd hdd plug in the sata 3 port

can any 1 help me?

It's possible that the motherboard will only do SATA3 on that port (i.e. no compatibility with SATA2). If that is the case, then yes, you need a SATA3 cable.
