I was looking at getting a crotch rocket or cruiser for a motorcycle.

Either that... or get an older miata.

Keep in mind I don't care about how much it gets used when and where, I just want a toy to putt around in town.

I won't race, autocross, or mod either of these "toys".

Suggestions for motorcycle?
 
if you live in Minnesota (or snows where you are), get a car first if you don't already have one - 'cuz it's hard enough trying to ride a motocycle on sleet.

I would get a bike for 3k. Lot easier to find great condition 3k bike than car. Something like used Honda F4 or Yamaha R6 would be fun toy. I've '99 Honda CBR600 F4 as my toy bike. Fun toy and cheap to maintain and insure.
