true but if you are forced to sell it you will have to sell your 2400.00 laptop for about 2000.00 anyway so in the end you come out with nothing. because that is what you paid for it! Well i guess if you are hapy with the hp than cool, but i would have went for the cash or another brand laptop (Ibm and Toshiba are the two kings of laptops)

I see your point. They would NOT give me $$ back other than the $1999. Believe me I tried.

And they are completelly Sold Out on the IBM's. Every singel IBM Model is on Back-Order. I tried em all! And the Toshibas were too expensive. The one I got is on PW for $2350 to $2900.

I almost took my $1999 credit back :p

I think a PIII 600 HP laptop with DVD is selling for under $2000 on uBid. Around $1600-$1899 these past few days. I know uBid sucks but their prices on laptops are good.

Yes they are. Got some Vaios P3 500's for a VERY good price. And only $16 for shipping!

Dear god man, you caved! And I thought you were "Stout". At any rate, I'm glad that you got something back.

Any news on any of the rebates?

I went ahead and sent both in. I can always dream... A total price of $1500 would always be nice.

What about the children? Have you forgotten about the children?!

Heck ya. Rebate should be no problem. (Kicking myself for not sending the stuff certified mail). The stretch would be the $200 gift certificate. There's likely enough ammo on their site/promotion to say "no go" but there's also enough ambiguous stuff that led me to believe that I was eligible. Got a $30 off $150 coupon for asking about it that I declined (what am I, an idiot?) saying that I just want to know if I could get a gift certificate.

Heh.

Well, as far as the $200 gift certificate goes, the promotions manager e-mailed me saying the F580 wasn't eligible. I replied that 3 out of 4 CSR's surveyed thought that it -should- be eligible. She then sent a gift certificate of the $15 sort. Not perfect but more than I expected and said she would pass on my suggestions to those involved with specific wording in promotions. Heh.

Now the question is... how will the sony rebate go? Will I succeed or will I be shot down in a blaze of glory?

Speaking of an old deal coming out on top... I realize I'll get flamed and publically flogged, but I just got the $200 Sony Rebate today. Woo! Final cost for the laptop (barring credit card interest) was $1500.

(wiping tears away) This brings back memories of "Why didn't I buy this laptop 5 minutes faster?"

I MISSED OUT ON THIS DEAL!
