Replay TV

I got one of these units during the MSN Passport deal at 800.com. I am hopelessly addicted to it.

This unit is no longer in production, Replay has done what Mcintosh computers should have done, go out of the hardware business and make money on the software. The units are now being manufactured by Panasonic and Sharp is going to be, if not already.

This type of device will eventually be built into televisions and will replace VCR's. They can put a show on hold while you leave for as long as you want and come back and pick up where you left off. You can program the device to do a myriad of things, including seaching for your favorite actor and automatically taping all the movies they are in. It would take too long to go into everything, but the most important is that you get very high quality images, better than Beta, if image quality is important to you when you view recorded programs and movies. You can also copy what you record onto VHS tape if you want to keep it.

Although it may seem unwise to buy something that is not being produced, it is identical to the Pansonic units and will have service and parts available for many years to come. They have kept enough units so that they will just replace yours if it breaks down.

We'll see what everyone has to say about it, but I think its a great deal.
