300 mhz in 2d really?

In the overclock settings, 2d mode is set to 300 while 3d is at 500, but on the desktop it reads as 500 in ntune, so is it always at 500 or what?

also i think 3dmark01 may have a problem with the leadtek cards if its actually at 300 mhz because im only getting 12k scores, and i got 19k with an MSI card.

input?

I tested out underclocking my XFX 6600GT once, and at the desktop there is hardly a change in temperature between 300MHz & 500MHz, so it's not doing any harm running at 500MHz. For 3DMark01, I wouldn't hold that to be the ultimate test. A couple of those tests I got ~190fps. If the MSI card can get say 200fps & the Leadtek can get 160fps, do you really care?

well it seems to be getting an error when the game 4 nature test starts, before that its ok. i get a window saying 3d01 must shut down but the whole pc freezes. im thinking it may be the card trying to switch for some reason?

Maybe it's your PSU? I can't find what PSU you have listed in your sig, though.

Does it always crash right when game 4 starts, or does it sometimes run for awhile?

On desktops I don't think you will see much point to underclock the video card in 2D. IMO it won't lower heat or power consumption much anyway as all of the 3D related transistors aren't being used at that point. Or I could be totally wrong here and they're in use regardless, but to me it seems like it would be similar to a CPU: when idle, it runs cooler & under load much hotter; even if the clock speeds are the same.
