Of course that's just my opinion but I really can't remember seeing many movies with worse dialogue or scripts. Yes yes I know it's an action movie that's supposed to entertain not make you think but it's still really really bad. Special effects were good I'll give it that, but Sin City looked much better and was a better movie all around.
The problem is that the movie actually relied on it's plot and dialogue to string you along while the special effects were just used to make it more surreal and 'cool' looking. If they had made the special effects the actual centrepiece of the film and did away with the narration it might have been better. For example if they had gone even further with the effects and made it look like a moving painting or made it REALLY surreal to the point of one loosing sense of reality. In some ways what makes it bad is that it's actually to conventional a movie in terms of relying on a B level script and dialogue to get you through the film.
