Built the following system almost a year. Most of the parts were gifted from family. I mainly spend my time with managing multiple VDI's staring at 2-3 Excel workbooks at a time. I do game casually about 2-4 hours a day and I play primarily WoW: Legion, Overwatch, BF1 and BF4. I'm looking forward to Destiny 2 and am hopeful I can enjoy it at 1080p above 100FPS.

My budget is up to $300 to spend and I'm thinking about an nVME drive like the the Samsung EVO 960 512GB. Another option I'm considering is parting ways with my GTX1070 and getting a 1080 TI? (Or wait for next gen?)

Current PC:
Intel i7 6700 (non K) with Cryorig M9 HSF
MSI Gaming B150 MB (has one M2 nVME compatiable slot)
Crucial 525GB MX300 (running about ~100gb free)
Seagate 1TB HDD 7200RPM
MSI Gaming GTX 1070 8GB
Monitor's - Benq 27" 144HZ and two el cheapo Samsung 23" IPS.
Logitech KB and Razor MMO gaming mice
Siberia V2 headphones

Thanks in advance!

Eh, this is a fairly balanced system, I don't see anything that you can improve using $300. I suggest bank that $300 and wait till you actually need to spend it whether because you run out of space on your OS SSD, or because 1070 is not fast enough.

I agree a larger SSD will give the most benefit.

Yeah, larger, faster boot SSD. Besides RAM, best investment (assuming you need it) you can make in your system.

960 EVO NVMe will not give u a better gaming experience over a MX300.

Trust me, i have compared both of them in many games, and do not notice jack squat in anything.
So if you gonna get the 960, id suggest you make it a boot SSD instead of a steam/origin folder.

However id probably get a 1TB SSD as dave suggests that way u dont need to re OS anything and face the horrible win10 reactivation on new hard drive fiasco.

For 1080p you really won't have anything to upgrade to get better performance as you are set for now really.

The 1080 ti is a waste short of 1440p 144hz really at this time and vega is around the corner.
