Dreamcast :( so sad. I still have mine. It really wasn't the biggest tech flop at all. When it came out it broke records for video game console sales. You can't call that a flop. It wasn't until the PS2 came that it went downhill.

Oh and some girl I dated had the N-Gage. I really hated it.

I remember the "wait for SED" nonsense!

And of course it's a Mac fan who thinks there was a year zero...

The Dreamcast might have died way too soon, but it has some awesome games and will always be my favorite post 16 bit console.

Only thing I bought were the standalone DVD Recorders. I got my first one in 2006, the Panasonic ES-15, which died about 2.5 years later. I then bought a Toshiba DR-560 which I still have and use on occasion, otherwise it remains unplugged. Sure the DVD-Rs are a bit clunky to use but they work.

The nokia nrage was their initial attempt at crossing over into portable gaming/communication device but the phone itself was too off the charts awkward looking.

I don't consider the dreamcast a fail at all. The 3DO was major fail, I remember games were upwards of $99-$200

Rip hd-dvd

That's the only one of the 30 that I had and I still have it. I thought for sure that when Walmart decided to sell it, it would take off, but it didn't last long after that.

I also like how most of these items didn't last long due to price. The market is never wrong.

so many of these things were great concepts, just the technology of the time made it impossible for the prices to be low enough.

lol segway..most overhyped piece of shit i've seen in my life, i remember the viral mystery ad campaigns about a secret product that would change the world and how cities would be built around it

Actually, in the case of HD-DVD vs Blu-ray, price wasn't the deciding factor. HD-DVD discs were usually cheaper, and so were the players, but they still lost. It may be the first time something like that has ever happened in the tech market.

Never bet against a pile of PlayStations.

I was so happy Blu-ray won. I didn't have to do anything, didn't sacrifice anything, thanks to my launch PS3.

Now, it seriously sucks that something as awesome as SED, ends up getting shelved for something as stupid as litigation.
I want SED, and the market could still readily accept something that beats both Plasma and LCD at everything. I'd kill to see SED sets reach the market, would love to have one.
