We all knew Iraq had MiG's,,,,,they've never been on the banned list.

And yet these were hidden so well that it took nearly 4 months to find them..........

because they were safe there, little chance of them being bombed, this has been done very often before

Yeah they were hidden in the sand alright to the point that they became utterly worthless ! Not to mention the fact that we don't know when these planes were buried. They could of been buried their from the last war and then left their since they were not protected adequately enough if at all against the sand. Also like someone above me stated we aren't looking for Mig's and they were not illegal for Iraq to have anyways.

What's the point of this post?

To show that things can be effectively hidden.

It wasn't that effective if we found them. The point is they were never banned from having MIGs, just WMD, and we still havn't found that.

it is a means of delivery however, his best planes, over 100 of them, we flown to Iran in 1991 in hopes of saving them. Iran never gave them back, what a shocker. France is currently making sure they (Iran) have the parts they need to use them to deliver a nuclear payload, isn't that special......

Alistair7. Several people including myself are still waiting for a response about the figures you posted about the US firms involvement in the Iraqi WMD program. To help you a bit here is the thread we are talking about. You seem to develop a habit to leave a thread when somebody gives you the "facts". It's on the first page, near the bottom.

And can you give me a link with information about the French involvement to keep the MIG's flying.

I just want to be sure that you are not just bashing the French again

a habit? sorry, I moved the next day after that thread, it was hardly a major concern.

the numbers I used were the ones provided to the UN security council by Iraq, if you have a problem with them ask the UN, or Saddam :D

How would that be "French Bashing" anyway, I said EU, and pointed out Germany was the major player, paranoid?

BTW the French do deserve some major bashing for their activities with Saddam in blatant violation of sactions they themselves signed.

only habits I see are those who ignore the facts because they dont match what they think.........

Still waiting for plenty of explanations about certain WMD's I posted numerous links about from UN inspections teams, actual reports to the UN security council. I NEVER get an answer about those....

"German involvement outstripped that of all the other countries put together, the paper said. During the period to 1991, the German authoritiespermitted weapons co-operation with Iraq and in some cases "actively encouraged" it, according to the newspaper which cited German assistance allegedly given to Iraq for the development of poison gas used in the 1988 massacre of Kurds in northern Iraq. It said that after the massacre America reduced its military co-operation with Iraq but German firms continued their activities until the Gulf War."

from your link. you do realize only the 5 permanent members even saw all 11,000 pages? You do realize the US WANTED each of the security council members to have full access but were blocked by "certain" EU countries.

all that does it support my claim the EU did far more to arm Saddam with WMD than the US unlike common perception, thanks for proving me right ;)

you know what's pathetic, countries like Germany that do that, and then object when action is taken....

funny, Iraq flew a lot of Mig to Iran. The best planes they had in in the beginning of the 90's were MIG (MIg-29, Mig-23).

you claimed that France is delivering parts so that the Iranians can deliver a nuclear weapon.

1)I'm still waiting for some prove
2)when I look to the Iranian airfocrce, its offical jetfighters are predominantly american (F-16, F-14) plus the Iraqi ones.
3)why would you try to deliver a nuclear bomb with an outdated French F-1 when you have the good american stuf (F-16).

During the 1991 Gulf War, 24 Iraqi Mirages were flown into neighboring Iran for safekeeping. Iran has kept the nuclear weapons-capable aircraft, never returning them to its foe Saddam. It came to light in 2002 that Iran has been dealing very quietly with France over spare parts and maintainance for them, probably as delivery systems for its own incipient arsenal.

plenty of articles about it, appraently they funnel then through a company in the United Arab Emirates

and I did answer your question, with the common knowledge everyone knows, the 80-'s are when the US stopped supporting Saddam.

nexttime wait longer than 4 minutes, you might not make yourself look so foolish, i doubt it though, you just have that knack ;)

I know its been longer than 4 minutes, no answers? Are you shocked to find out France has been illegally selling arms and helping Iran with it's nuclear program? Go figure, don't worry, it's all the fault of Bush and America....
