30 Dyno accidents, oops

Lots of little explosions in the engine bay. Are those typically fuel injectors dying? I suppose they could be blown head gaskets too given the white smoke from most of the cars' tailpipes right after.

I know the last time my car was dynoed, it was a little crazy being anywhere close to it. It was loud enough in there that I was getting a little nauseous to my stomach.

Same. When my car was dyno'd, the guy asked me if I wanted to drive, I politely declined.

Looks like blown head gaskets. I wonder if they have better materials tuners can use than stock to prevent blowing head gaskets.

Everytime I go to a dyno night I expect something bad. Luckily I've Bren lucky over the years.

I think I have blown 3 engines in my time. None at a dyno though.

two blown off IC boots at the diesel dyno event this Saturday. Those are a bit loud @70 PSI 🙂 He got top power for the event at 550 HP and 1200 foot pounds of torque, right before it let go. No harm done.

I'm surprised there wasn't more diesel trucks blowing turbo's in that video. Those are always the funnest to watch, but thats partly because watching trucks on the dyno is more fun than watching cars. 😉

When my engine was getting installed, they did a dyno with open exhaust. Just to get things situated.
My exhaust system was still on order.

Holy F*ck.

What doesn't kill you only makes the next engine that much stronger.

ok kelly clarkson 😛

I think the trauma of a blown engine with money in it is an important lesson for some kids to learn. I bet the supra that blew in that video has stock internals ><

Off the dyno, the engine may never fail because the car will never impose the load that the dyno can. If they neglected a major upgrade like manimal has suggested, or simply are pushing too much boost, or have the leaning wrong, or ,or or........the dyno will find your error🙂
