Does the iH282 have anything other than VGA? Also there is the simple fact that the dell has 56% more real estate. If you want a 30" you can get an LG for about $1100 off of Newegg, but I think that the Dell has more inputs.

I picked up an i-inc ih282 last week. Somebody had posted in the hot deals section about it, so naturally I went to ebay to check it out... found one for $150 w\ free shipping. Used the bill me later offer and ended up w\ $10 off and $13 ebay bucks.

I'm happy with it. It's huge compared to my 22 inch.

The Dell of course is going to be a higher quality screen. I haven't had a 30'' dell, but I had a 27'' ( forget the model # ) really nice.... quality was amazing compared to the iinc.

But my current opinion is that the tech is just advancing so fast... I wouldn't want to blow $1000+ on a monitor because next year you can probably get an amazing LED display for ~$500

I'd get the iinc and buy some sort of extended warranty if you can. Then in a year or 2 you can always trade up.

I already have ONE i-Inc 28 inch, wonder how two would work side by side for gaming...?

haha... idk. I finished mass effect 2 on it, but then tried playing black ops and it almost seemed too big.

Somebody posted a picture of their setup w\ 3 of them in the hot deals section.

That's Just the thing, you typically can't see one anywhere...

Hmmm...

Best guaranteed place to at least see one, not necessarily to by it, but to get an idea of the size and pixel density, an Apple Store. They almost all have their 1 Mac Pro hooked up to a 30" display.

3x28 I-Incs might be better, but its hard to beat the HQ IPS and 2560x1600 res. but again, its at a high price!

Sounds sexy but:

1. Can I game on them?
2. How man Nvidia 570/580 or 590 cards would I need, 2 or 3?

0.309 pixel pitch?! Nasty.

If it's just for gaming on I'm sure it'll work well. But you're looking at monitors of completely different classes, despite them being close in size.

I bought the U3011 without ever seeing one in person and I am thoroughly impressed with it. But I'm a stickler for sharp text and low pixel pitch.

As someone who owns a 30" Dell and has also seen 28" lcds, I would say that there really isn't any comparison. 2560x1600 is fantastic.

However, $1300 is a lot for the Dell. If you wait around for a sale (especially at the outlet) you should be able to pick one up for <$1000. Ebay can be good too. I got lucky and picked mine up when MS was going crazy with Live cashback -- I think I ended up paying ~$700 :D.

If I was a photo pro and wanted my monitor for photo shop then the Dell hands down. If I was a gamer then the I-Inc hands down. I would never spend $1300 on a monitor never. For that much I could build a extreme fast gaming rig and still have money to spare, plus still be able to buy that 28 inch I-Inc. If all you do is photo editing then Dell, if you are a gamer then I-Inc :)

I have had an iH282 running for around 6 months now. i use it for a workstation for engineering programs. I am running it at 1920 x 1200, and that is about as small a size as I can read comfortably. So, for me, there would be no reason to go to the DELL at 4 x the price!

Reliability has been great for me, not a single stuck pixel.

My only complaint is that I am upgrading my rig and wanted to buy a 2nd one identical to the first, and all I can find are refurbs online! I bought mine new from tiger direct, and these are so cheap to buy, i would rather find a new one than a refurb on ebay.

Anyone know a reputable dealer selling brand new ones?

Conversely I should ask the question: "why can't I find a new one anywhere". Is the company going under or something?
