Hello everyone, I have a problem.

I 30" Dell Flat Panel Monitor paired with an XPS M170 laptop.
The laptop has a Geforce Go 7900GTX video card.

I have the 30" monitor plugged into the DVI port on the back of the laptop and im extending my desktop from the laptop screen onto the 30" monitor.

Problem is, I can't get the 30" monitor into any higher resolution than 1280x800. I want it to be in the 2500+ range. Both the monitor and the graphics card should be compatible, but the slider bar doesn't go any higher.

Weird thing is, the laptop's screen goes up to 1920xblah.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

I don't think the laptop has a dual-link dvi which is required for 2560x1600 resolution. If a dual link dvi connection is not present, I believe the monitor defaults to 1280x800 only.

Is there a converter that I can buy that will allow me to use it in 2560x1600 resolution? What options do I have? Thanks.

Converters cannot magically make stuff appear that isn't coming from the source.

Your options? Check your notebook specifications for whether you really don't have dual-link DVI. And if you don't, then that's it, sorry.

It might also be that you can't use the Dual link capabilities of your laptop (assuming it has dual link) while also displaying an image on the laptop's LCD. Have you tried displaying just to the 30" ??

Does it matter that I upgraded from a 23" flat panel dell monitor which ran at 1920x800 but the new 30" won't even do that?

Dell makes a 23" monitor with 1920x800 resolution?

At any rate, something like the 24" 2407 with a res of 1920x1200 can be supported by single link DVI.

As has been said, I think the 3007 can only go above 1280x800 if you have a dual link card.
