Best.vampire.movie.ever.

Twilight, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Interview With the Vampire- male models who can look good forever and for reasons unknown seem mainly interested in getting some human sex and professing their eternal love to women. (let's face it, if you're dead, I doubt you really care about getting some nookie)

30 Days vampires are what I'd think vampires would be like, if there were vampires.

I enjoyed Blood the last vampire and Let the right one in(foreign). Fright night and Daybreakers were okay as well.

I think I've seen bits and pieces of 30 Days of Night but haven't gotten to watch it all. Looked decent but not really quite what I think of for vampires.

I don't think I'd call it the best (other than best 80s cheese but still pretty badass, actually it might not entirely be that as I know some would argue Lost Boys), but Fright Night I think is my favorite vampire movie. Both of those aren't really "good" but they're that awesome 80s cheese and entertaining as all hell.

I know some people love Let The Right One In but I found it really boring need to rewatch it though as might've just been not in the mood for it.

Blade and Underworld movies are ok but I just kinda blech to the "economics and politics of vampires" type of stories. I think there's a couple of Russian ones that are pretty interesting (Night Watch and Daywatch I want to say?) on Netflix that are kinda similar and aren't strictly vampire movies.

I'm sure some would say From Dusk Til Dawn, and it's worth a watch but eh (and stay far away from the stupid show which just took the movie and drew out the plot over like 10 hours worth of show).

To say nothing of the really old stuff (Nosferatu, and there's several older Dracula films). Oh, personally I fucking hate Dracula. The book sucked ass and the Coppola film followed it so it sucked ass too. It's just too fucking weird.

There's a bunch of other ones I'm forgetting as well. There's going to be a bunch of new vampire and dracula movies too (wasn't there one that came out just a couple of months back where he's like a megabadass like Sauron in the intro to the Fellowship of the Ring?). Van Helsing was another one that just ended up meh for me. Not awful but I still don't really like it.

Lost Boys is the best vampire movie. This is not even worth debating.

OK, I do like that film but in addition...

Let the Right One In / Let Me In (I like both versions)
Bram Stoker's Dracula(the one with Hopkins)
Blade
Near Dark

In fact, I'm disappointed no one else mentioned Near Dark.

DS, good call on From Dusk til Dawn. I forgot all about that one. Such a great 'I didn't see that coming at all' movie and it's Tarantino so the dialogue is good.

Also voting here for The Lost Boys, but Blade takes honorable mention. Another one I like is Van Helsing, because I really like how Dracula was portrayed.

30 Days of Night was an ok movie to me. The sequel, however, was absolutely horrible. That's perhaps 90 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. lol

still havent seen near dark!

Gotta watch!

also lost boys and the 70s dracula. Was watching that in 81 at night when I was being babysat by a neighbor and the power went out right when something creepy was happening and stayed off for 2 hours. We lit some candles and the babysitter literally hugged me for 2 hours. Man did I have a crush on her....

Dracula 2000 was pretty good. Interesting take on the Dracula origin that I haven't seen before. And if you like old school, Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter. 70's movie about a British dude with a samurai sword and his hunchback sidekick traveling around Europe killing vampires. Looks like Hammer Films put the full movie on Youtube if you're interested.

30 Days was OK, but for me the best part was how amazing the snow looked on blu-ray.

Lifeforce is in the top 10, for naked SPACE vampire goodness.

Blade was the best action vampire movie.

Daybreakers was a clever take on what happens if everyone is a vampire, and the blood is running out.

Near Dark had Lance Henriksen and Bil Paxton. List Over, Man!

I like Underworld and Van Helsing. Probably because I have a thing for Kate Beckinsale

Lost Boys- Don't even know where to start on this one. This is a teenage adventure movie, totally ridiculous. It's a fun movie to watch that I've seen several times over the years, but it's not a horror movie.

Fright Night- see above. Same thing, teenage adventure movie, horrible effects, same old "Dracula is a suave guy looking for lunch and poontang".

Blades/Underworlds- comic book adventure movies, Xmen with fangs.

Let Me In- excellent, I'll give you that one.

Near Dark- very good, cowboy vampire yarn

30 Days of Night trumps all of these, most by a LOT. It's a true horror movie, not a teens save the day re-hash.

The premise makes some sense- where would vampires want to be? Where the sun doesn't rise.

The vampires are the opposite of suave, they're blue collar, as animal as human. Their only connection to "humanity" is they still know enough to cut off communications, bait people with children, and destroy evidence of their presence.

The people in 30 Days act as people might- they hide, and fight back with what weapons they can find or fashion.

They do not sport weapons that would put the US military to shame, deploy crosses/garlic/holy water- just try to survive.

This all is what makes 30 Days unique in the genre, and my vote for best.

No love for Blackula?

I had forgotten Blackula and Dracula: Dead and Loving It, but I still have to give 30 Days the nod.

Maybe if Blackula had met Dolemite and his all girl kung fu army, but without that, Blackula comes up a little short.

Mainly I get tired of seeing vampires supposedly concerned with love, how they dress, and sex.

Of course, these days Uncle Fester is moonlighting as Dracula, so I suppose it could be worse:

I actually really liked 30 Days of Night, but I'm not a massive vampire fan in general. I liked Bram Stoker's Dracula (even though its actually kind of weird) and Interview with a Vampire. Most Vampire movies seem pretty bad but that's true of the horror genre in general.

Blade and Underworld are fun but those are kind of just action monster movies. I'd watch almost anything with Kate Beckinsale in it though.
