30 day wear contacts experiences?

So I'm 24 and have work glasses for as long as I can remember. I'm not trusting enough for lasik yet, but I think I'd like to try some 30 day wear contacts. If I don't have to fiddle with them every day and can sleep in I might be able to put up with the eye poking. It seems like the bausch and lomb pure vision, and ciba night and day are the two most popular. Ciba's pass most oxygen, but I seem to hear more people talking about the purevision lenses being more comfortable on them. Have you tried both? Which do you prefer? Do you wear either and are happy with them? Can you wear them for 30 days? ? Any problems using the computer?

Thanks!

Have fun carrying around eye drops and squeezing them into your itchy eyes every 15 minutes. When I first had problems with my eyes I went to the <whatever the eye people are called> and got a prescription, but I didn't want to wear glasses so I got contacts. I tried them for several months, and boy did they suck. I wear glasses now.

I wear the 30 day ciba night and day lenses and they are great. Usually I don't have to take them out except to clean them every two weeks or so in the spring if the pollen is bad

I give them :thumbsup::thumbsup:

To my immediate recollection I only have myopia.

your optometrist should be able to diagnose you... afaik, most optometrists don't like overnight contacts simply because everyone's reaction is different. i walked in wanting to get N&D's, but walked out with acuvue advance for astigmatism

I tried them and found them to be not so good to me. The regular ones work best for me. I do have dry eyes normally, and the 30 month ones just kept feeling like I was tired all the time. You know, wwhen they sting when you close them. In any case, I was pretty lazy about having to put them in all the time, but I would rather bother every morning than deal with drop s 24/7.

The optometrist warned about them, and suggested I try them for a month, but didn't make a difference for me. I now wear contacts when I plan on working out or sporting events, but generally wear glasses day to day...

I had a pair of Night & Days that lasted over 3 months. Only took them out to wash when I got pollen on them. They feel a little weird the first couple days adjusting to them but they breathe great.

They make a cheaper line, Optix. I tried them out and they're comfortable too, feels a lot like Acuvues.

I have used the Bausch and Lomb extended wear for over 2 years now. The freedom of only needed to remove them every few weeks is great. But yeah, YMMV.

overnight contacts are not that healthy for your eyes assuming they are soft contacts. i had 1 day contacts for something like 6 months and thourghly enjoyed it. i then switched to monthly 30 day contacts. they are a bit harsher on the eyes as you can get allergic to the cleansing solution. i have a strong feeling that i ain't talking about the same kind of contacts as u are. here's my advice:
first, ur eye doctor knows best and you should listen to him.
second, contacts that don't pass enough oxygen to the eye are unhealthy and will agitate your eyes causing inflamation of the blood vessles resulting in red eyes which itch when using a computer.
if u just want to start takng contacts, get the 1 day disposable ones. they aren't the cheapest, but they are the best for begginers. best of luck and as for kogase's comment, u don't know what you're talking about and if that happens to you, please refer to LoKe's law (on his every post in his sig). i remeber that when i had the 1 day dispoasable ones, even though they only said to put them on for 8 hours, i could get away with 20 hours ez and still be ok with it. everybody adapts. anyway, best of luck!
