Hi

i found a pretty cool device at spencers i would like to use in a pc build it is run by 2 aaa batteries.I did already connect it to a psu with a v meter, and it runs great on the 3.3 volt rail of the main psu cable.I would like to put it in to the case but i dont no any pin on a mother board that gives me 3.3 volt.I would really apreciat any help , i am building this pc for a donation "Arts for Act" so i want to make this build perfect.I speak perfect german and good english.

Thank you very much

You would need to tap into one of the orange wires (make sure its solid color and not a orange and black stripe) on the ATX connector.

Yeah, the easiest would be just to tap into one of the orange wires and a ground (black) wire if necessary. Most any stores that sell electrical stuff, even auto parts shops, sell wire taps that make it easy to connect other things to a wire. The 3M Scotchlocks are the originals. Here is a link so you know what I'm talking about: 3M Scotchlock Connectors

Just get ones that match your wire gauges - it is marked on the orange wires in small letters (get out your magnifying glass) - it will say something like 18 AWG or 20 AWG (AWG means American wire gauge - as those are the two most common gauges of PSU wires) - ones for diff. gauges are diff colors depending on brand - cheap chinese knockoffs are already out there. Radio Schlock has some at their usual mall prices; auto parts stores, and the big box stores like Home Depot, Lowes, etc.; hardware stores, etc.

Its a little disc ,about 2 inches in diameter, when its turned on it creats like lighting but in colours. It is all glas with one wire coming out of the back ,so i tink it is under a vacuum or presure because it is fully incloused.I bought it bacause it is very visible and had a clip.I use it when i walk my dogs at night so cars can see me .But i really would like to put it in that case because it is so unic.It was about $20 at spencers.
Check it out alaricljs.

Thanks

Modelworks and Zepper,

I read a little bit more since last night on the net and all i could found out that the 3 volt cable on the main psu cable is for the memory and the cpu.I thougt there might be a fan , drive ,or any plug on a motherboard that would provide me with the 3 volts. But if there is no problem to tap into a cable from the main psu cable ,that works for me .I do not no squad about electricytie, besides you touch a cabel that carries 220 v you see black for a while.everythink i know about building pcs i learnd by reading on the net and with help of people like you that share the same pasion as i do.

thank you very much
