Well it's nice they are finally coming. Hard drives are getting bigger slower :/ We might soon run into a storage crisis.

I love the sarcasim. At this rate, we'll have petabyte drives for little more than $100 by 2015.

Higher platter density means slower rotational drives can achieve the same speeds as older drives. Perhaps not in random access of a bunch of small files, but no disc drive will be great for such a thing anyways. These large and slower spinning drives are meant for storage purposes, particularly large media files.
