Hey,

I just got my 3rd stick of Mushkin DDR PC2700, and now i'm having stability issues. (2 256's, 1 (new) 512)

When i loaded up BF it causes the machine to restart when the map starts loading (taking up the ram my guess).

So, does anyone remember that article (toms hardware i think) that compaired stability with all ram slots filled?

I'm on a EpoX 8k5a2+

So right now i'm running with just the new 512mb stick in and it seems to be fine.

In a little while i'll see if it was maybe the placement of the ram (I hope)

Not yet.

I would like to but I dont have time right now.

Also I despise floppy drives, none of my computers have them, tehy really should have a cd image for that program :)

Anyway, I'll drage one out later and try it if this persists

EDIT: Hey I never noticed that before! They do have them.

Run memtest86 (the program in that link), and tell us your results. If that isn't the problem, then we will go from there.

EDIT: I just re-read your first post, and remember that I had a similar problem with an Athlon 1.33GHz box (asus a7v133 mobo) i used to work on. It turns out the cpu was overheating, and I replaced the fan (with one rated for an AthlonXP 2200+), and it solved the problem. So check it out!

well i dont think i really need to run memtest to say my ram is good. Everything works fine, with 2 sticks or less (dosent matter what slots either). My board is just unstable with 3 slots filled.

I'll run memtest when i get a chance.

1) What are your temps?
2) Are your memory timings default?
3) Is your CPU oc'd?

Its important that i say, thy problem only is present when all 3 ram slots are filled, it instantly goes away when i take out a stick. It dosent even matter what stick. I think this is simply one of thoes "you can have 3 ram slots, but tis not going to be stable" issues

Have you tried loosening the RAM timings with all 3 slots filled? Some motherboards HAVE to have slower timings when you have them all filled, regardless of what the RAM can do. It's a motherboard limitation,
