3 sli on nvidia only?

@ omghaxcode,

Regarding nVidia's future cards, it's more likely that nVidia will reserve 3SLI for the high end models only which is pretty much what they have done so far. nVidia tried very hard to keep 3SLI for themselves and they have succeeded so far as the only non nVidia board that features SLI is Intel's Skulltrail and that's for std SLI only.

3SLI scores are not that great compared to std SLI but you can run almost anything with all quality settings maxed out (AA,AF,HDR etc) at very high res. If you don't run at high res with all settings maxed out then you don't need 3SLI.

Have in mind that 3SLI is Vista only and you'll need to apply Microsoft's KB945149 hotfix also. It's needless to say that a 3SLI setup is insanely expensive and you'll need to have a dedicated power line that will connect your system to the nearest nuclear power plant and that's just to be on the safe side.
