3-prong RGB to HD15 on a Hitachi plasma TV

Hello guys,

This is my first post.

I have a Hitachi Plasma tv from long ago (2003) with 1080i. It has the following connections.

RGB1 (HD15), RGB2(HD15), S-Video, Component Video 1 (3-prong), Component Video 2 (3-prong).

I'm currently using Tivo 3 (HD) to component video and it seems okay so far. The video is good, the audio is routed through a receiver. Everything looks good. The problem is that I can connect only one more equipment and hence, I'd like to utilize the RGB (HD15) slots.

I'm trying to use the RGB 1 and RGB 2 slots for my Tivo 3 (HD).

Since Tivo outputs in 3-prong RGB, and since there is no 3-prong RGB on the TV, I was wondering if I could use an 3-prong RGB to HD15 adapter cable as shown below.

Will I be having a quality loss if I do this?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

You need to see if the DB15 (HD15) input on your Plasma can be set to YPbPr instead of the usual RGB.

That cable will not convert the YPbPr output of our Tivo 3 to RGB, merely change the connectors.

Most of the HD sets that had the 15 pin connectors would accept either component or RGB over the port and auto select which was being sent. That cable may work. It was confusing for them to use that connector because it also is the one used for VGA on computers, but does not contain vga signals. Connecting a pc to the ports wouldn't work.
