I just bought a new 120 mm fan to go on my thermalright sp-128 for my cpu, and the stock intel cooler has 4 pins connecting to the cpu_fan plug on my mobo...my 120 mm fan only has 3, so which do i leave unconnected? Can anyone link me to a pinout of the stock intel heatsink so I know if I have to rewire anything?

You can connect it you'll just lose RPM control (unless you happen to have an Asus board).

If you just look closely at the mobo connector and your new fan connector you'll see there is only one way they can go together w/o forcing. Don't make things more difficult than they have to be...

omg...i do have an asus board. yay. Asus p5b deluxe.

Oh, and Zep, I haven't actually taken the mobo out of the box yet, i just noticed that the intel stock fan has 4 conductors, and the one I will be using has three, so I just wanted to make sure.

Sorry to hijack, does this mean if I buy an Asus P5B Deluxe and use a Scythe S-FLEX 120mm fan on my heatsink and plug it into the MB header I can control the RPM with Speedfan?

not sure, but that's what I hope to do, and that's exactly the hardware I'm using.
