I'm not looking to game too much... what I do want to do is use 3 or 4 monitors with my PC. If I get an SLI rig and a couple of 6600s, can I do 3 or 4 LCDs from my rig?

I think the outputs on the second card are disabled if you're running in SLI mode (someone else correct me on this if I'm wrong).

You should be able to run the cards separately and run more than two monitors though.

hmmmm ok...thanks for the input... anyone else?

would it be worth going with an SLI board then? or should I just throw in a PCI card?

Get DFI Ultra D. It has 2 PCI-e graphics slots but won't officially run SLI mode, so it's perfect for your uses. about $130.00

If you get an SLI capable board you dont have to run it in SLI in which case you can use 4 monitors. Just simply do not enable SLI.

Officially the normal SLI mobos are for just that, ie using 4 monitors, they dont have a SLI bridge inclosed in box like SLI Deluxe mobos, and have something dissables on Chipset, that can be reversed by a pencil (old pencil trick).

Only the SLI Deluxes out the box let you connect 2 cards together with the included SLI bridge to game with 2x GPU's at pci-e 8x instead of 1x GPU at pci-e 16x.

Thanks for the tip.

Would it be worth it instead to just throw a PCI video card in my main rig along with my AGP one? or would the SLI board work better?

What about having all 4 windows tile next to each other so the mouse could move from one monitor the the next?

If you're not going to be doing 3d on more than a single monitor, I wouldn't bother getting an SLI board if you can get the same results with much cheaper PCI cards and not spend extra on the SLI board.

Exactly. As for spanning the desktop accross multiple displays.. youll have to use NVIEW in the drivers for that. It is really pretty simply after you get used to it.
