i currently have a Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO and a Radeon 32MB PCI to run a dual monitor setup. If i get a 9700 or similiar (something with dual monitor support) will my 32MB PCI card work as a third display?

thanks

It should. I want to say that Windows XP can run up to 10 monitors, but I'm not quite sure, this is all contigent upon the fact that you have video cards for all of them though,

an alternative would be having a matrox parhelia. it does surround gaming (3 monitors) with one card.

The Parhelia might not be what you want, because you are limited to the same refresh, resolution, and color depth (and a max of 1280x1024 at that) on all outputs. IMHO, unless you want "surround gaming" (which doesn't seem like too useful of a feature to me when the video card can't put out the frame rates to do it properly), go with your Radeon 9700 (or 9500, or 9000) plus the PCI Radeon that you have now.
