3 Monitor Setup questions.

I currently have a setup with 2 different monitors.

I am thinking to upgrade to a 3 monitor setup (mostly for increased on screen real estate). My initial idea was to get 3 of the same monitor for consistency and I saw the 120 hz lightboost monitor thread. I am somewhat sold on the idea but the displays being TN panel, I feel less willing to get 3 monitors that are good for gaming, but will not give great experience when watching movies etc. The other thing is that I have never did multi-display gaming before and not sure if I will do that either. I will most likely get Asus or Benq monitor(s).

Could I make a consistent setup with maybe just one of them being a lightboost monitor with monitors of same exact size/frame if I buy them all from Asus or Benq? Another thought I had was to get a touch display. Can that be thrown into the mix? And will having a single 120 hz monitor make the other ones look weird?

Any suggestions?
 
Your choice of video card would affect the decision.

One point to consider is you could game "seriously" on the single lightboost monitor, and then game for "fun" using all 3 mixed monitors. But if you expect to play on all 3 monitors seriously at 120 Hz, you'd need a super-powerful video card setup.

If you consider either company, Nvidia or AMD, you may want to consider the comparison in features for triple-monitor gaming. For example, AMD supposedly lets you use mixed-resolution and sizes to play on 3 screens, but I'm not sure if Nvidia still limits you to using all the same type of monitor or mixed?

But I would expect that video card limitations would prevent you from gaming on all 3 120 Hz displays, so that's why I suggest getting at least one 120 Hz to enjoy single-screen gaming, and then save money on the to remaining/side monitors that wouldn't need to be so fancy.
 
Personally, I dont like multi-monitor gaming because I dont like the side of the panel in the middle of the game.

But I don't understand the issue. I mean, think about it. With three displays, you are simply opening up more vistas into the game. Like in a car, you could cover up your side windows and drive around looking through only the front windshield, to avoid having to put up with those pesky pillars that block your view between the front windshield and the side windows.

But isn't that silly? It's way better to unblock the side windows, and look all around and engage your peripheral vision. That's what 3 displays does for you. If you use only the center display, you are short-changing yourself.

The side panels are basically for peripheral view.

Example: In first person shooter games, if you see someone in one of your peripheral monitors, you don't turn the head around to check the side panel, you turn the mouse.

I switched to a single 21:9 ultrawide and am very happy over the 3x1200p it replaced.

Still enjoying my 3 x 1080p setup here. I can run three full screens at 16:9 for any reason at any time (triple pornos with correct aspect ratio, Eyefinity TF2, etc.), or turn off the sides and use one monitor to save energy and to reduce heat.

Super powerful being? Would 2x580gt work?


And back to the other parts of the question:
Could I reasonably match sizes/frames if I went for 3 different monitors 1-120hz, 1-touch, 1- normal - touch and normal being normal 60 HZ IPS panels for better color etc.

And would having a 120 hz monitor next to 60 hz be weird or distracting?
