$3 Hard Reset Redux @ Steam

I liked both games and the developer, I would only get it if you want to support the developer, its really not that big of an update but $3 is nothing.

Absolutely loved the original, but I'm going to pass on this. Some things just shouldn't be mucked with and Hard Reset is one of those things.

They would have been better off developing Hard Reset 2.

Please keep in mind that the graphics have been downgraded. This version has been extremely consolified.

The original game was beautiful and fun when I played it a few years ago. The Redux version actually makes the graphics worse?? What the hell??

I've been playing it, the new sprint function is incredibly useful and necessary. I don't mind the new katana, I pull it out occasionally if things aren't going to detonate in my face. The graphics might be a slight downgrade but who can notice with everything going on anyways? Though I must say that the developer shouldn't advertise it as having "enhanced graphics" if they are the same\no better.

Can you gift it?
Yes, when you put it in your cart you have an option to "purchase as a gift".

Side note: I have shadow warrior and bought the redux version and it also came with the original extended version which includes the dlc. $3 well spent. Thanks for the heads up Elixer.

Here is a quick comparison video I found. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOHNo2sa9-Y

I have shadow warrior so I might pick this up. I looked at a gameplay vid and it didn't look too bad but my focus is on the action and not the graphics.

Looks like the redux has much higher frame rates, at the expense of image quality.
Though, as you say, most people aren't going to go out sight seeing, and instead play the game. Of course, parts like the fire/flame effects are much different.

I really liked Hard Reset despite a few flaws it was a great kickback to the sort of UT games of old and was quite difficult and action packed, very fun to play and great to look for secrets and such.

I did want the redux and this is a great offer but after reading about the possible graphical downgrade and checking the comparison video above, I think I'll have to skip. There is obvious graphical downgrade there.

The devs responded here http://www.pcgamer.com/hard-reset-s...s_source=steam&ns_linkname=0&ns_fee=0

But while they address the added SSAO which to me looks worse, and change in filtering which again looks worse, they also skip over the effects which were obviously changed such as the lighting, missing particles and worse flame effects and such. The response to the mega thread on the steam forum is also lacking, the devs just went silent.

In a redux which is meant to be specifically better than the original this is big egg on face for them which is a shame really. I'd expect pretty significant graphical upgrades to the game for a redux but for it to be step backwards is a massive shame.

Just to correct the OP, the 10% off is good until 10th June but the 85% off for prior owners is a lifetime deal and it doesn't stack with other deals so it's about as cheap as you'll ever get it right now.
